Poem: Buttercup Blossoms …an ode to acorn squash

2013-11-22 Buttercup Squash DSC03792

From the box of winter squash
Sitting on the basement floor
I chose a green and orange acorn squash.
Walking up the stairs
I pondered recipes.
Upstairs in the kitchen
I washed off the dirt,
A bit of the nearby farm,
From whence it came.
I sliced it in half
An autumn bouquet appeared
Golden orange
Buttercup blossoms.
So beautiful, so perfect
Cooked with just an oil rub
It needed no other
Baked and darkened
And prettier still
An autumn bouquet
