Poem: If My Brother Has a Hubby …my Valentine’s Day poem about freedom of sex and love!

If my brother has a hubby
And my sister has a wife
How does this arrangement
Upset your life
He kisses his cheek
She kisses hers
Why does it matter
It’s their cheeks
Not yours

That dark-haired woman
That visits so late
She might be my sister
She might be my date
Why does it matter to you?
We may sip fine wine
We may eat sixty nine
What does it matter to you?

That handsome young man
That stopped by and said hi
Is he making a delivery?
Is he making love to me?
Why does it matter to you?
When we close the door
You won’t hear any more
So why does it matter to you?

If that grey-haired woman
That looks cold and frail
Can still start a fire
And take care of herself
May I ask, why do you care?
If she can glow hot
Then I say, why not!
Could stave off Medicare!

I don’t know what to say
About the firehat and lingerie
Don’t interrogate me about sex
Tongue, lips and body parts
Fit together many ways
Don’t tell us how to have sex

If my brother has a hubby
And my sister has a wife
How does this arrangement
Upset your life
He kisses his cheek
She kisses hers
Why does it matter
It’s their choice
Not yours

Love and affection
Can not be proscribed
Don’t tell us how to have sex

About the poem:
The best line I heard lately is, if you’re against gay marriage, don’t marry someone who is gay.  Bullying, gossip and harassment are still standard fare when someone choose to have sex in a way that does not agree with another’s views. A more open dialogue about sex would go a long way to desensitize this topic. Tolerance, compassion and love are the winning principles, regardless of the players. We can all do more to say that love is love, and that bullying is never okay.
