Poem: Lane Stripes (NaPoWriMo 2)

Days fly by
Lane stripes on a highway
Hunger created
Immediately obliterated
Decades fly by
Lane stripes on a highway
Never stopping to eat
Life flies by
Never stopping to eat

About the poem:

I’m finishing Day 1 of a 3-Day Juice Cleanse. I love the experience of awakening to how I normally live in a “I should eat”-Eat-Cycle. With the tiniest amount of time between the thought and the action, in normal life I rarely experience hunger. To those millions who are hungry, wanting to be hungry seems a frivolous desire.  But eating, without ever being hungry, makes the experience so lacking. When we miss the profound nature of noticing that it’s food that keeps us alive …eating without hunger isn’t really eating at all.
