Poem: Can’t Stand the Heat NaPoWriMo #02

Does it feel warm in here

Or is it just me

Phew, I’m overheating

My heart is overbeating

Open a window

Turn on a fan

I’ve got a bad case of fever

And I caught it from man

The other species are feeling it too

If he doesn’t change,

he won’t pull through

If he doesn’t change,

There’s nothing I can do.

He can’t stand the heat

This ain’t idle bitchin

He can’t stand the heat

Get out of the kitchen

If he doesn’t change

He may be gone.

If he dies off

I’ll live on.

About the poet:

Joan Gregerson is a Wellness Coach & Eco-Nut. Joan helps people remember that they are nature, and in so doing, they can overcome struggles with food and feel empowered to care for the earth as part of ourselves. Joan is creator of the program Food Freedom Naturally.

Joan completed the Climate Reality Project training with Al Gore in Denver in March 2017. Joan is available to speak to groups about climate change, focusing on three issues: must we change, can we change and will we change? Given the current political climate and lack of scientific expertise in the new administration, it’s more important than ever that we all get educated and voice our concerns to the government (who works for us!)

It’s important to share the photo of the planet earth as a whole floating in space. We can and do forget this important fact. Seeing the earth floating can remind us that we are living in a fragile bubble, that bears protecting.
